Singing in the Rain

Just making the best of a rainy day today.

Surefire plan for making lemonade out of lemons on a rainy day...
Step One - Get on those funky frog boots
Step Two - Put on a bright yellow slicker to shine in the rain
Step Three - Hit those puddles with some attitude

Step Four - jump as high as you can and try to get as soggy as possible

It's the perfect way to spend a rainy day...that is until you hear the thunder rolling in...RUN!

I love being intentional about living life through a child's eyes.  It is one of the gifts that God has given me since he blessed me with my little buddy boy.

One of the ways I use Pinterest

Hi, my name is anne and I'm a pinterest addict... It contains so many of my favorite things and long before there was pinterest I created a huge binder full of lovely things... you know, things for the house, for this room and that, fashion I liked, photography ideas etc. But now there's pinterest and I don't have to cut and file anymore, I can just pin away to my hearts content.   I was just looking through my "for the home" board and noticed a definite theme in the bathrooms that I've pinned along the way.  It really does help to be able to see things that I like and why, when you want to decorate or renovate a room in your home.  Here are a few of the bathrooms that I really like from my "for the home" board.

Well, I've determined:
1.I like either wood planking or tile behind the mirror(s) for some textural interest
2. I like the warmth of wood tones and a white bowl or basin sink
3. I like industrial/cottage style lighting as the lighting
4. bright and light is my thing
5. I like floating countertops with open/basket storage below
This image below is my favorite of them all and definitely hits the style I love right out of the park.

Oh and I think these are pretty great ideas for the bathroom too:

Hanging towel bars on the back of the door.

Hanging baskets on the wall for storing towels.

How about you?  Do you use pinterest or something else for "filing" away ideas for home, fashion and storage?

Education~

Little buddy boy will be approaching the age for Kindergarten next fall and we have been really thinking about the educational system for our child.  With the changes in funding available in Michigan, most public school institutions in the state of Michigan are changing to an all day every day kindergarten program.  I find myself liking the thought of this less and less.  I mean, so that the school system can have an additional $850,000 I should put my five year old in school all day???  There won't be any additional curriculum covered it is just that additional time will be allowed per each topic.  Translation in my mind...that means that those who learn on the faster side of the scale will have lots of time with "filler" until the other kids have completed their work and that our schools have become additional "daycare" for parents.  This is just this mommas opinion, you may have your own on it too and I'd love to hear it if you'd like to share.

We are checking out all the options and homeschooling is one of those.  A friend who knows that I'm considering homeschooling little buddy boy sent me this video and it is pretty funny so I thought I'd share it here too.

A DIY Goal List

I love this rotating DIY goal list which I discovered through Pinterest.  It is so simple, easy and cute!  I can't wait to put together one for my office.  Thanks for sharing this on your blog Cornflower Blue Studio!

Before & After

Why is it that I always forget to take a proper before picture before I've actually started transforming something?  Well, you can tell she was "lovely" before anyway, in all her vinyl glitter sparkled wonder.
I called her Hollywood....

( Like my work area?)

 Before my transformation that is...
Here is the after...

I think she's lovely now!
She's a chair that was really tranformed with some fabric and a lot of elbow work.  I wish I could find her a mate and two friends!!!!! She's a great combo of mid century modern style and a touch of scandanavian feel.  Oh and it made me think about my post the other day about the chair from Urban Outfitters that I'm totally crushin' on and this just happens to be my own version.

What do you think?
