Needed Inspiration

All of the above photo's are from Cottage Living Magazine

I have to admit, I have been hit hard by the winter blah's. I'm just sick of the cold cold weather and layer of ice under all of the snow here. I need some visual uplifting and motivation so I've decided to peruse through my backdated issues (why must all great things come to an end???????????) of Cottage Living (my secondary Bible) for some much needed inspiration. I'm starting to think I subconsciously focused on some of my favorite bedroom photo's from Cottage Living as my motivation to remove the five tons of CLEAN laundry from my bedroom floor! I'll let you know how that goes ;)

Nest Fluffin' Little Birdie's Room

I scored big in Little Birdie's room!

Paint :
I went to the mis-tint section at my local Lowe's store and found this great color that I just painted birdie's room. I scored an entire gallon for only five dollars!!! It was my lucky day!

Furnishings:
My sweet mother picked this cute little dresser up for $10 at a garage sale this summer and promptly brought it over and helped me paint it this beachy serene blue. I then put new knobs on that I found on sale at Target for $10.... "New" old dresser for birdie not bad for twenty bucks.

The lamp on the dresser was one that I had sitting in a room unused... I liked the structure of it but there was a hideous purple shade on it. So...I went to Michaels and found this cute brown ribbon with blue polka dots and it happened to be buy one get one free, yippeee!!! So I just took a stick pin and pinned the edge of the ribbon on the inside of the shade and started wrapping around the entire shade. I finished it off with another stick pin on the inside. I think it turned out really cute and it was far less expensive than a whole new lamp!

I'll be posting soon to show you the great fabric I found for his curtains and bedding that I made. Since I couldn't find anything that I liked that wasn't the equivalent of a mortgage payment :) I made my own. I was really suprised to see some of the great fabrics that they have out now too~
